"...a new benchmark in the fields of heavy and engaging post-punk and noise rock." -Mes Enceintes Font Défaut
"In the ever-expanding world of microgenres based on hybrids and crossovers, Montreal-based trio Boar God may be onto something as close to unique as you could imagine..." -Aural Aggravation
"L’étrange amalgame de styles que le trio montréalais nous sert valse habilement entre post-punk, noise-rock et même une légère dose de grunge, de quoi piquer la curiosité d’un grand nombre d’amateurs de musique lourde. Si la première écoute n’attire pas particulièrement l’attention, n’hésitez pas à y replonger fréquemment, ses riffs de guitare uniques et ses mélodies vocales singulières ne tarderont pas à vous rester en tête." -Pan M 360
“Near Extinction” is the new EP by Montreal-based drone-punk trio Boar God. Featuring Eric Bent on vocals and guitar, Sabrina Coté-Poitras on bass and backing vocals and René-Olivier Duchesne on drums, the four songs on this EP feature a more experimental, mature and progressive approach to their songwriting, while still showcasing the loud, wall-of-sound guitars, pounding rhythms, and wide atmosphere of their acclaimed debut album “Forma”. The four songs all deal, in their own ways, with the subject of loss, and were recorded over a weekend in the winter of February 2020 at a house in the woods of Mont-Tremblant, Quebec. The results carry on the intimate feel of the setting while still using some studio techniques to push sonic boundaries and create an otherworldly feeling. We recommend you listen to this at full volume.
